Joe grew up in Antlers, Oklahoma and graduated High School in 1991. His initial college experience was a failure and eventually dropped out after 3 semesters. At 25, Joe started working as a field technician for Cox Communications and was promoted up to a Field Operations Manager. During this time, Joe would go back to school and receive his bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Following a surgical procedure in 2005, Joe was introduced to opioids which began his descent into chaos. Over the next 10 years, his addiction would lead him to do things and hurt people in ways he never thought possible.
Joe eventually went to rehab at Hazelden Betty Ford in 2016. Shortly out of rehab Joe relapsed and would go on to lose his job of almost 17 years. In his lowest moment, Joe discovered that God still had plans for his life. While being broken and defeated is painful, this is the place recovery can begin. Joe made the decision to live in God’s will instead of his own and set off for a new career.
Joe returned to school to pursue a master’s degree in counseling and was fortunate to complete his internship at Rob’s Ranch, where he was given the opportunity to become a full-time counselor once he graduated. “From the first day I was at Rob’s Ranch, I had a strong feeling that this was the place God wanted me to be.” Joe and his wife Korri have 3 children and live in Newcastle, Oklahoma. Joe is blessed to serve as a deacon at FBC Newcastle and is also the ministry leader for their Celebrate Recovery group. “I am so grateful to work at a place where the Gospel can be shared and to see men not only find recovery, but develop a relationship with Christ.”
